|And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
BRINGING UP FATHER
When I was a boy of 14, my father was
so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at
how much the old man had learned in seven years.
~ Mark Twain ~
Or what is there of you, whom if your son ask for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Train up a child in the way which he should go
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
|A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman, he turns her back again.
~ Enid Bagnold~
|It is a wise father who knows his own child.
|A man knows when he is growing old because he begins to look like his father.
~Gabriel Garcia Marquez~
|If the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation he has a fifty percent chance of being right.
~ Bill Cosby ~
|What a dreadful thing it must be to have a dull father.
~Mary Mapes Dodge~
|One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.
|The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.
|Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy
with all you meet, especially your family.
|We should teach our children to love one another at home. They can learn this only from their father and mother when they see their parents' love for each other.
~ Mother Theresa ~

|A PRAYER TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER
Which art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom,
And the Power,
And the Glory
sung by Holly Dunn
I remember daddy's hands folded silently in prayer
And reachin' out to hold me, when I had a nightmare.
You could read quite a story in the callouses and lines
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind.
I remember daddy's hands how they held my mama tight
And patted my back for something that I had done right.
There are things that I'd forgotten that I loved about the man
But I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands.
Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin'.
Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong.
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand
There was always love in daddy's hands.
I remember daddy's hands working 'til they bled,
Sacrificed unselfisly just to keep us all fed.
If I could do things over, I'd live my life again
And never take for granted the love in daddy's hands.
